NUREMBERG TO AMSTERDAM

Step back in time as you journey along the beautiful Rhine River for a magical voyage through Old Europe. An abundance of enchanting architecture is just waiting to be admired — from the 16th century merchant houses lining Amsterdam’s canals to the magnificent Kölner Dom; Cologne’s World-Heritage listed gothic cathedral.  And legends are to be learnt too, as you sail along the stunning Rhine Gorge past the famous Lorelei Rock.

Day 1 | Nuremberg, Germany. On arrival at the airport in Munich, you’ll be met by a friendly Emerald Waterways representative and transferred by coach to your deluxe ship in Nuremberg. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening. (D)

Day 2 | Bamberg. Known as the ‘city of experience’, Bamberg is built on 1,000 years of art and culture. Boasting one of Europe’s largest intact medieval town centres, stylish shops weave between historical buildings and centuries-old gardens, creating a truly enchanting place for you to discover. (B,L,D)

Day 3 | Würzburg. Welcome to Würzburg, the “Pearl of the Romantic Road." Today we take you to the Bishops’ Residenz — one of Germany’s largest and most ornate baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace’s famous staircase, elaborate 18th century frescoes and amazing three-dimensional stuccowork create a truly unique setting and ensure a memorable experience. Afterwards, you’ll get to explore Würzburg on a guided walking tour. Alternatively, you can replace today’s included tour with an optional full day tour of Rothenburg. (B,L,D)

Day 4 | Miltenberg. Today, travel to the picturesque village of Miltenberg on the Main River. The village creates an imitable feeling of Bavarian life in the middle ages and the Old Town is lined with well–preserved half–timbered buildings. During you free time you can visit Miltenberg Castle, originally a military fortress, is now a museum of art collections and the gothic Merchant Hall is an impressive symbol of past affluence created by trade from river traffic. Day 5 | Rüdesheim. Koblenz.  After breakfast, arrive in Rüdesheim, where you’ll board the Winzerexpress — a mini-train ride through old town of Rüdesheim and on to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Instrument Museum, where your guided tour features displays of self–playing instruments. Afterwards you’ll cruise the mighty Rhine Gorge. Have your camera ready to capture the stunning scenery as you sail past storybook castles on the valley’s vine-littered banks, before coming face-to-face with Lorelei Rock, which legend says, was haunted by a lovelorn maiden who’s singing lured sailors onto the treacherous rocks. In the early evening we arrive into the beautiful 2,000 year old town of Koblenz. (B,L,D)

Day 6 | Koblenz. Cologne. In the morning we arrive in Cologne — Germany’s oldest city. You’ll take a a guided walking tour which concludes with entry to the Kölner Dom — a World-Heritage listed Gothic Cathedral and a true masterwork of medieval architecture. This evening the captain will be delighted to welcome you to the Captain’s Gala Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 7 | Amsterdam, Holland. Cruising. Today you’ll take to the waters on a glass-top canal boat to explore Amsterdam’s picturesque canals. Charming churches, 16th century merchant houses and the city’s bustling streets glide by. This evening join your fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner.  (B,L,D)

Day 8 | Amsterdam. After breakfast, it’s time to say your goodbyes before you’re transferred to the airport. Included meals: breakfast.(B)
