NUREMBERG TO BUDAPEST
Day 1 | Nuremberg, Germany. Embark. Fly to Nuremberg. On arrival transfer to the Emerald Destiny, your home for seven nights and embark. (D)
Day 2 | Kelheim. Regensburg. Cruise the Main–Danube Canal to Kelheim and continue to Regensburg. Explore this beautifully preserved medieval town on a guided tour, with the chance to see one of the Danube’s oldest bridges and a medley of architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall. (B,L,D)
Day 3 | Passau. Admire the region’s winter scenery as you cruise the Danube to Passau. Discover the town on a guided walk, exploring the old quarter’s narrow, cobbled streets – which will be alive with Christmas lights – and the hilltop Oberhaus Fortress and the glorious baroque cathedral of St Stephen’s, home to Europe’s largest church organ. You could also enjoy an optional excursion to Salzburg (at additional cost). (B,L,D)
Day 4 | Durnstein, Austria. Melk. Explore the 900–year old Benedictine abbey at Melk, noted for its fine baroque architecture, then cruise to historic Durnstein, one of the most enchanting villages in the scenic Wachau Valley, a World Heritage Site and renowned wine region. (B,L,D)
Day 5 | Vienna. Take an energetic guided city bike tour or join a coach tour and guided walk of Vienna, with the opportunity to enjoy the special food and traditional crafts at its celebrated festive markets. See the Ringstrasse, Opera House, Burgtheatre, Town Hall, St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Mary Berry will join you today for a delicious afternoon tea. You will also hear tales from her career and discover insights from her much-loved BBC series during an informal Q&A session. (B,L,D)
Day 6 | Bratislava, Slovakia. Arrive in Bratislava, the lively capital of Slovakia. Enjoy a city tour, including the historic Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and the Gothic St Martin’s Cathedral. This afternoon, join Mary Berry for an exclusive book signing and receive a complimentary copy of her latest publication. Afterwards, visit one of the city’s beautiful Christmas markets and shop for traditional festive trinkets. This evening, join Mary in celebrating the festive season with a very special gala Christmas dinner, featuring courses specially chosen by the cook herself. (B,L,D)
Day 7 | Budapest, Hungary. Enjoy a guided tour of Budapest, Hungary’s cosmopolitan and atmospheric capital. See many of the major highlights, including the Hungarian Parliament Building, Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge. Alternatively, take a hike to Buda Hill for beautiful views of the city. This evening, take a relaxing night-time cruise along the Danube, passing under the city’s numerous bridges, while enjoying a delicious Hungarian farewell dinner, with traditional music and folk dancing. Day 8 | Budapest. Disembark. After breakfast this morning, disembark the Emerald Destiny and transfer to Budapest airport for your flight home. (B)
